  3. DJM is a program which is supposed to be an alternative to the control panel
  4. on the DeskJet series.  DJM has only been tested on DJ500 and 500C.  If you
  5. have any other DeskJet, try this out and report the results to me, I'd be
  6. very interested in hearing about them.

  8. DJM can set your DeskJet to Draft or Standard quality, Portrait or Landscape
  9. orientation, and issue a formfeed command (for when other programs fail to.)
  10. You can reset the printer to it's most current mode/settings, or have it run 
  11. a self-test, which (if successful) also shows that the link between parallel 
  12. port and printer is intact.  You may select between Courier 10, 17, and 20 
  13. CPI modes.  Although the DeskJet can handle other CPI settings than those 
  14. three, I am supporting just those since this program is intended as a 
  15. equivilant to the control panel, not a printing utility.  You may also feed 
  16. in an envelope or paper from their respective sources.

  18. All you do is pass DJM the correct switches to change the above functions.
  19. DJM will process all options, keeping the last specified in the event of a
  20. contradiction between options, and then execute them all at once.  FYI:
  21. If you want to use the Reset option, DJM will reset the DeskJet FIRST, and
  22. then pass all other options to the printer.

  24. DJM defaults to LPT1.  If you have your DeskJet on a different port, use the
  25. /PORT: switch to select it.  Legal ranges are COM1-4 and LPT1-4.
